Wolff downplays follow-up win
Although Toto Wolff reckons the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve will suit Merc's engine, he says they must remain "realistic" about their chances.
Mercedes finally turned their fourth pole position of the season into a victory when Nico Rosberg took the chequered flag in Monaco after putting in a dominant display.
The nature of the street circuit, though, suited Mercedes as it played to the strong points of the W04 while negating its tyre issues.
And although the high speeds seen in Montreal will also suit the car's powerful Mercedes engine, tyres issues could once again rear their head.
As such Wolff is refusing to get carried away over the possibility of back-to-back victories.
"We enjoyed a fantastic weekend in Monaco but, as I have said before, yesterday's home runs don't win tomorrow's games," said the Mercedes executive director.
"We will be heading to Montreal this week with realistic expectations about what we can achieve.
"The high-speed circuit will definitely suit our Mercedes-Benz engine.
"Our car has been on pole position for the last four races, which shows our basic speed, so the focus in that time has been on improving our performance on Sunday afternoons.
"We managed this in Monaco, partly thanks to the unique characteristics of the circuit.
"This weekend will give us a more representative indication of how much progress we have made."
